Negative Beliefs are Tricky

Negative beliefs are tricky both literally and figuratively. Figuratively because they can be difficult to deal with and literally they actively try to trick us.

Bashar states that all negative feelings stem from irrational beliefs. They are a message that something inside of us is out of alignment.

I was astonished to read what Bashar had to say about negative beliefs. It’s the first time I have every read anything that perfectly describes some of my behavior and feelings that seems like I have no control over. I found this understanding to be very powerfully transformative.

Negative beliefs target and magnify specific fears in detail to get us to suspend our belief about our worth.

In the session The Black Box, Bashar lists 27 tools and tricks that are used by negative beliefs to try to trick us and fool us into perpetuating the negative belief and the associated vibrational level of feeling. Because of their structure, they can feel like something is controlling us. They can use positive reinforcement to hide behind because they are deceptive by design.

Bashar also lists 24 negativity neutralizers. These include understanding that negative beliefs are our creations and we are always in control; even if we choose to use our power to make it seem like we’re out of control. Most negative beliefs are false conclusions we adopted in our youth from our parents.

In the session Brick Walls and Beliefs, Bashar introduces a diagram of the structures and functions of positive and negative beliefs. One of the important understandings is that negative beliefs try to perpetuate themselves, so it seems like they are impossible to change.

The important thing to realize is that negative beliefs want to continue to survive, (they are all about survival) so it’s very powerful when you reassure your negative beliefs that you love them (after all they are part of yourselves). See them as equally valid beliefs to all your beliefs even if you don’t choose them. They will always be a part of you – there is no other place for them to go. Knowing that they are safe, and respected as equally valid choices for you, they won’t bother you anymore.

See Part 2 for more discussion on negative beliefs.

YouTube Q&A #4
Q:
You refer to the negative beliefs, almost as a self-aware entity that has an intelligence and a bag of tricks. Could you expand on that a little bit?
